I can’t remember the last time a musical brand completely blew my entire setup out of the water. Apparently, that’s exactly what the gem of a human called Till did with his pickups when we set out to unlock the full potential of my main bass.
I had always been happy with my sound, but for some reason, I tended to ignore the humbucker and just stick to the split coil. Till changed that by giving me the perfect tonal addition to my setup. The combination of clarity and punch coming from the bridge pickup fits so perfectly into my configuration — which I mainly use with my band Dankeschatz, but also when filling in for CF98, March, and Melonball.
It kind of hurts to admit, but I’ve started neglecting my other basses — maybe that’s just a sign it’s time to fully go Nova. Guess that’s the only way forward.
