Nova pickups are engineered to be sonically transparent, projecting the tone of your instrument with minimal coloration. That gives you:

Made to Fit, Built to Flex

  • All Nova series pickups are retrofit-compatible with standard enclosures: Humbucker, Jazzmaster, P90, Musicman, P-Bass, EMG-style and more.
  • We support fan-fret designs, extended range guitars (6–10 strings), and 4–6 string basses.
  • Custom enclosures, custom voicings, angled layouts, and OEM/branding options are all available.

The key components

Rails

Each pickup (of the four coil variants) contains four custom laser-cut rails made out of a high permability material, contributing to the high dynamic range. This means, you won't ever feel a "limit" of the pickup's output - the softest playing will translate as intricate and detailed tone and there's no "brick wall" feel if you dig in.

There are rails in various sizes to accommodate different string counts and spacings.

Bobbins

Intricately designed to the intended coil geometry and a perfect fit into the construction, the bobbins are 3D printed in-house using high quality FDM procedures, iterated in small increments to continue evolving with each new insight.

The bobbins differ in geometry as well as the wire gauge and turn number used depending on the application - compatible with anything from passive and pre-voiced recipes all the way to full range and active compatible styles.

PCBs

There are two layers of PCBs:

  • The baseplates - to mount, access and shield the coils, as well as ground the rails
  • The cover PCBs, which route the coil signals, feature quick connection pins and seal off the finished pickups

Enclosures

Industrial grade SLA printing with temperature, UV and humidity as well as mechanically resistant resin allows for affordable complex geometry and high customizability. Any brand or band name or artwork or abstract geometric shapes as well as simple text or plain designs are in the cards - let's talk about your vision.

Magnets

We offer a wide choice of magnets including classic variants like ceramic and AlNico 5, but also Neodymium and lesser known AlNiCo variants in various strengths and sizes, which all contribute and shape the output, frequency response and dynamic behaviour.

Capabilities

Built for Clarity, Designed for Versatility

At the heart of every Nova pickup is a four-coil rail design unlike anything you'll find in traditional pickups. Here's how it works:

  • Each of the four rails (in the 4 rail designs) is at the core of its own coil.
  • The four coils are grouped in two hum-cancelling pairs:
    • Primary: reverse/modern split-coil layout
    • Secondary: classic split-coil, like in a P-Bass.

The coils are half-length, providing balanced, string-specific response.
These pairs allow for multiple wiring options, including:

  • Full humbucking (series, default configuration)
  • Split coil (choose the primary or secondary split, both hum-cancelling)
  • Parallel wiring for a cleaner tone with enhanced top end clarity
  • Phase flips between coil pairs for advanced tonal shaping

Every configuration maintains hum-cancelling performance. That means quiet operation, even when split.

Materials That Make a Difference

We use only premium components chosen for performance:

  • High-permeability rails – laser-cut for precision and consistency, high dynamic range
  • SLA resin covers – carefully sandblasted, sanded and lightly oiled for a pristine finish
  • Fully wax potted – vacuum-treated and sealed in custom wax blend for durability and microphonic resistance
  • Custom PCB backplates – with a meshed ground layer for shielding without dulling your tone
  • Quick-connect pins – on most models, making installation easier and less error-prone
